Salmoneus
In Greek mythology, Salmoneus was the son of Aeolus and Enarete, the brother of AthamasSisyphus and the father of Tyro. Salmoneus became King of Elis and founded the city of Salmonia.

Salmoneus
[Greek heroic] The son of Aeolus en Enarete, king of Elis. In his vanity he thought he could equal Zeus by driving around in a bronze chariot, making much noise, and imitating Zeus' thunder and lightning. He had also people made offering to him. To pay for this insult, Zeus struck him down with a lightning bolt.
