Salmon River (Idaho)

The Salmon River is located in Idaho in the northwestern United States. The Salmon is also known as The River of No Return. It flows for 425 miles (684 km) through central Idaho, draining 14,000 square miles and dropping more than 7,000 vertical feet between its headwaters above the Sawtooth Valley and its confluence with the Snake River. Its discharge is 11,060 ft³/s. Cities located along the Salmon River include Stanley, Clayton, Challis, Salmon, Riggins, and White Bird.

Der Salmon River ist ein Fluss, auf einer Länge von 684 Kilometern durch Zentral-Idaho fließt. Der Fluss wird auch als "Fluss ohne Wiederkehr" bezeichnet.Der Salmon River hat seine Quellen in den Sawtooth Mountains und der Lemhi Range. Er fließt nordöstlich durch Custer County, weiter nördlich durch Lemhi County und dann in westlicher Richtung durch Idaho County bis zur Mündung in den Snake River (Grenze zu Oregon). Von der Quelle bis zur Mündung hat der Fluss einen Höhenunterschied von mehr als 230 Metern (7000 feet) zu überwinden.
