Salic law
The Salic law (Lat. lex Salica) was an important body of traditional law originally conceived to govern the Salian Franks  when it was codified in the Early Middle Ages during the 6th century in the reign of Clovis I.However its historical impact, not least through traditions even as political statute law evolved, extends down into modern times through the impact it had on the history of Central Europe, particularly in many German states, in France and The Netherlands, and parts of Italy into portions of Eastern Europe (AustriaRomaniaHungary, etc.) and the Balkans.

Salic , Salique Law
SALIC , SALIQUE LAW - The Common Law of France.

The name of a code of laws so called from the Salians, a people of Germany, who settled in Gaul under their king Phararaond.

The most remarkable law of this code is that which regards succession. De terra vero salica nulla portio haereditatis transit in mulierem, sed hoc viriles sextus acquirit, hoc est filii in ipsa haereditate succedunt; no part of the salique land passes to females, but the males alone are capable of taking, that is the sons succeed to the inheritance. This rule has ever excluded females from the throne of France.
