The choir is occasionally located in the eastern part of the nave.This area is often furnished with finely carved and decorated wooden seats known as choir stalls, where the liturgical singers (also known as a "choir") may sit when not performing. In a cathedral, the bishop's throne or cathedra is usually located in this space.
