Sic is a Latin word that means "thus" or, in writing, "it was thus in the source material".

The Latin adverb sic ("thus"; in full: sic erat scriptum, "thus was it written") added immediately after a quoted word or phrase (or a longer piece of text), indicates that the quoted words have been transcribed exactly as spelled or presented in the original source, complete with any erroneous spelling or other presentation. The usual purpose is to inform the reader that any errors or apparent errors in the transcribed material do not arise from transcription errors, and the errors have been repeated intentionally, i.e., that they are reproduced exactly as set down by the original writer or printer. It may also be used as a form of ridicule or as a humorous comment, drawing attention to the original writer's spelling mistakes or emphasizing his or her erroneous logic. Sic is generally placed inside square brackets, or in parentheses (round brackets), and traditionally in italic, as is customary when printing a foreign word.

The name sic is a proposed top-level domain for the Domain Name System of the Internet. It is as an abbreviation of Siculitas (Székely), a historic region in Romania, and was requested in 2009 by an initiative of the Szekler National Council for presenting Szeklerland on the Internet.

Silicon carbide (SiC), also known as carborundum, is a compound of silicon and carbon with chemical formula SiC. It occurs in nature as the extremely rare mineral moissanite. Silicon carbide powder has been mass-produced since 1893 for use as an abrasive. Grains of silicon carbide can be bonded together by sintering to form very hard ceramics which are widely used in applications requiring high endurance, such as car brakes, car clutches and ceramic plates in bulletproof vests. Electronic applications of silicon carbide as light emitting diodes (LEDs) and detectors in early radios were first demonstrated around 1907, and today SiC is widely used in high-temperature/high-voltage semiconductor electronics. Large single crystals of silicon carbide can be grown by the Lely method; they can be cut into gems known as synthetic moissanite. Silicon carbide with high surface area can be produced from SiO₂ contained in plant material.

Slipknot is the debut studio album by American metal band Slipknot. It was released on 29 June 1999 through Roadrunner Records, following a demo containing a few of the songs which had been released in 1998, and was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly altered track listing and mastering as the result of a lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction.

Slipknot är Slipknots första album som släpptes av ett skivbolag, utgivet 29 juni 1999. Med detta kom genombrottet. Det finns två digipack-versioner av albumet där den ena innehåller låtarna Frail Limb Nursery och Purity, som i originalet ersattes av Me inside. Den andra digipack-utgåvan innehöll fortfarande Me Inside men även Get This, Interloper (demo) och Despise (demo). Det finns även två vinylversioner av albumet, en bildskiva, och en i grön vinyl. Albumet är även känt av Slipknots fans under namnet "S/T" som är förkortning för Self Titled.
