In India it extends from Assam, Bengal and Jharkhand west to the Shivalik Hills in Haryana, east of the Yamuna. The range also extends through the Eastern Ghats and to the eastern Vindhya and Satpura ranges of central India. It is often the dominant tree in the forests where it occurs.

Sal - jedna z wysp archipelagu Wysp Zielonego Przylądka zaliczana do Wysp Zawietrznych. Nazwa Sal to także jeden z 22 okręgów administracyjnych (port.concelho) Republiki Zielonego Przylądka.Powierzchnia wyspy wynosi 216 km2. Wyspa ma 30 km długości i 12 km szerokości. Jest zamieszkana przez 14 816 mieszkańców. Wyspa została odkryta 3 grudnia 1460 i została nazwana Llana. Dopiero odkrycie soli przyniosło jej obecną nazwę (port.Sal - sól). Na wyspie rocznie jest około 350 dni słonecznych i dlatego w ostatnich latach można zaobserwować rozwój turystyki.

Sał (ros. Caл) - rzeka w południowej Rosji w Kałmucji, lewy dopływ Donu o długości 798 km. Źródła znajdują się na wyżynie Jergeni, do Donu wpada w okolicach miasta Semikarakorsk. Okresowo wysycha.
