Sunderland Association Football Club is a professional football club, based at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, in North-East England. They play in the Premier League. They moved to the Stadium of Light in 1997 after 99 years at Roker Park.Before the Second World War, Sunderland were league champions six times - in 1892, 1893, 1895, 1902, 1913, and most recently in 1936, when they became the last team wearing striped shirts to win the league. They were elected into the football league in 1890, becoming the first team to join after the league's birth in 1888. Sunderland stayed in the top flight until 1958, a record which only Arsenal have bettered since, in 1992. The club won their first FA Cup in 1937 with a 3-1 victory over Preston North End.

Sunderland Association Football Club est un club de football anglais fondé en 1879 et basé à Sunderland dans le Nord-Est de l'Angleterre. Les Black Cats ont remportés six championnats d'Angleterre et deux FA Cups. Ces titres ont tous été remportés avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, à l'exception de la FA Cup remportée en 1973 contre Leeds United, à la surprise générale, grâce à un but de Ian Porterfield. En 2006, le club est racheté par un groupe d'investisseurs irlandais (le Drumaville consortium) dirigé par l'ancien footballeur irlandais Niall Quinn qui devient président du club. Il recrute alors la légende du football irlandais et ancien joueur emblématique de Manchester United, Roy Keane, pour entraîner l'équipe. Le club, qui évolue pour la saison 2008-2009 en Premier League (D1 anglaise), s'est fixé comme objectif de bâtir une équipe solide, capable de rivaliser avec les meilleurs équipes de Premier League comme lors des saisons 2000 et 2001 où Sunderland avait terminé à la septième place.

El Sunderland Association Football Club es un club de fútbol de Inglaterra, de la ciudad de Sunderland en Tyne y Wear. Fue fundado en 1879 y juega en la FA Premier League. Sunderland supo saborear las mieles de la victoria cuando arrasaba en Inglaterra a fines del siglo 19 y principios del siglo 20. Antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Sunderland había sido campeón seis veces.Su último logro importante fue en 1936. Sin embargo, después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Sunderland ganó la Copa F.A en un partido no apto para cardiacos sobreponiéndose por 1 a 0 al poderoso Leeds United.
