South Jutland is the name for the region south of the Kongeå in Jutland. The region north of the Kongeå is called Nørrejylland (Northern Jutland). Both territories have had own ting assemblies in the Middle Ages (in Viborg and Urnehoved). South Jutland is mentioned first time in the Knýtlinga saga.
