Rwanda or , officially the Republic of Rwanda (; ), is a country in central and eastern Africa with a population of approximately 11.7 million (2012). Located a few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. All of Rwanda is at high elevation, with a geography dominated by mountains in the west, savanna in the east, and numerous lakes throughout the country. The climate is temperate, with two rainy seasons and two dry seasons every year.

Ruanda [] (frz.: le Rwanda []) ist ein dicht bevölkerter Binnenstaat in Ostafrika. Er grenzt an Burundi, die Demokratische Republik Kongo, Uganda und Tansania. Wegen seiner in weiten Teilen hügeligen Landschaft wird es auch „Land der tausend Hügel“ genannt. Auf seinem Staatsgebiet verläuft die afrikanische Hauptwasserscheide zwischen den Einzugsgebieten des Nil und des Kongo. Von 1884 bis 1916 war Ruanda eine deutsche Kolonie, 1962 erhielt es seine Unabhängigkeit von der UNO-Mandatsmacht Belgien.

Le Rwanda (écrit Ruanda en français avant 1970), surnommé le pays des mille collines, est un pays d'Afrique centrale. Il partage des frontières avec, au nord, l'Ouganda, à l'est, la Tanzanie, au sud, le Burundi, et à l'ouest, la République démocratique du Congo.

Rwanda, Republika Rwandy – niewielkie państwo w środkowo-wschodniej Afryce, położone pomiędzy dwoma potężnymi sąsiadami, Demokratyczną Republiką Konga (dawniej Zairem) na zachodzie a Tanzanią na wschodzie. Oprócz tego graniczy z  Ugandą na północy i Burundi na południu. Jest położona na bardzo pofałdowanym terenie, skąd wziął się przydomek Rwandy, Kraj tysiąca wzgórz (fran. Pays des Mille Collines //; Igihugu cy'Imisozi Igihumbi w jęz. kiniarwanda). Jedna z najwyższych gęstości zaludnienia w Afryce, uzależnienie od rolnictwa, źle uprawiana ziemia oraz suchy klimat, sprawiają, że Rwandę trapią chroniczne niedostatki żywności i bieda.[1]
