Rumelia

Rumelia or Rumeli (Turkish: Rumeli ("Land of the Romans" from Rum: "Greek" [formerly "Roman"] and El: "Land"); , Roúmeli; , Rumeliya) is a name, used from the 15th century onwards, for the southern Balkan regions of the Ottoman Empire. "Rumeli" literally translates as "land of the Romans", in reference to the Byzantine Empire, the former dominant power in the area. During the 11th and 12th centuries it was widely used for Anatolia while it was gradually being conquered from the Byzantines.

La Roumélie (en turc: Rumeli) est le terme utilisé à partir du pour désigner la partie de la péninsule balkanique sujette à la domination ottomane. Cependant, le terme Roumélie signifie littéralement terre des Romains, en référence à l'Empire romain d'Orient. C'est pourquoi, au cours des et , ce terme fut également utilisé pour désigner l'Anatolie alors qu'elle venait d'être conquise par les Turcs.

Als Rumelien (türkisch: Vilayet Rumeli mit der Bedeutung „Land der Romioi“; Land der (Ost-)Römer, also der Griechen) bezeichneten die Türken seit dem 15. Jahrhundert den europäischen, auf der Balkanhalbinsel gelegenen, Teil des Osmanischen Reiches im Gegensatz zu Anadolu, d.i. Anatolien (aus dem Griechischen für Land im Osten).

Rumelia o Rumeli (turco: Rumeli ("Terra dei romani" da Rum: "Greco" [precedentemente "Romano"] e El: "terra" ); greco Roúmeli; bulgaro Rumeliya) è il nome, usato dal XV secolo, per indicare la regione dell'Impero ottomano dei balcani meridionali. "Rumeli" è letteralmente traducibile come "terra dei romani", in riferimento all'Impero bizantino che in precedenza aveva dominato su quelle terre. Durante l'XI ed il XII secolo fu estesamente usato al posto di Anatolia man mano che veniva conquistata dai Bizantini.

Contudo, o termo "Rumeli" literalmente traduz como "a terra dos romanos", em referência ao império bizantino, e durante os séculos XI e XII ele foi largamente usado para Anatólia quando ela foi conquistada dos bizantinos.
