The
West Bank
and
East Jerusalem
were ruled by
Jordan
(formerly
Transjordan
) for a period of nearly two decades (1948 - 1967) starting from the
1948 Arab-Israeli War
. They were under Jordanian occupation between 1948 and 1950; with
British
approval, and despite
Arab League
opposition, Jordan annexed them in 1950.
