Royal Hungary

Royal Hungary was the name of a territory of medieval Hungary where the Habsburgs were recognized as Kings of Hungary in the wake of the Ottoman victory at the Battle of Mohács and subsequent partition of the country.Other parts of the partitioned country were central territory, which was occupied by the Ottoman Empire (see Ottoman Hungary)and the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom in the east which later became the Principality of Transylvania.The latter was an Ottoman vassal for large parts of its history.
