Ross Dependency

The Ross Dependency comprises an area of Antarctica (and other land masses in the Southern Ocean) claimed by New Zealand. It is defined by a sector originating at the South Pole, passing along longitudes 160° east to 150° west, and terminating at latitude 60° south. The Dependency takes its name from Sir James Clark Ross, who discovered the Ross Sea.

Das Ross-Nebengebiet ist der von Neuseeland beanspruchte Anteil an der Antarktis. Es umfasst eine Fläche von etwa 750.310 km², darunter Teile des  Viktorialands sowie die Scott-Insel und die Balleny-Inseln. Das ist fast die zweifache Größe von Neuseeland selbst. Neuseelands Ansprüche auf das Gebiet werden international aufgrund des Antarktisvertrages jedoch nicht anerkannt.

Dependencja Rossa (ang. Ross Dependency) - terytorium zależne Nowej Zelandii na Antarktydzie i wyspach przyległych. Nazwa terytorium pochodzi od Sir Jamesa Clarka Rossa, który odkrył Morze Rossa.Dependencja Rossa obejmuje sektor Antarktydy od bieguna południowego do 60°S na północy i od południka 160°E do południka 150°W. W jej skład wchodzi m.in. część Ziemi Wiktorii, większość Lodowca Szelfowego Rossa, Wyspa Rossa, Wyspy Balleny'ego, Wyspa Scotta i Wyspa Roosevelta. Całkowita jej powierzchnia wynosi ok. 350 000 km², a najwyższym wzniesieniem jest Góra Kirkpatricka (4511 m n.p.m.).
