Ronald Reagan

Ronald Wilson Reagan (February 6, 1911 – June 5, 2004) was the 40th President of the United States (1981–1989) and the 33rd Governor of California (1967–1975). Born in Illinois, Reagan moved to Los Angeles in the 1930s, where he became an actor, president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), and a spokesman for General Electric. Reagan became involved in politics during his work for G.E. and switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party in 1962. After delivering a rousing speech in support of Barry Goldwater's presidential candidacy in 1964, he was persuaded to seek the California Governorship, winning two years later and again in 1970. He was defeated in his run for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968 as well as 1976, but won both the nomination and election in 1980.

State Route 126 is a state route starting at the Ohio-Indiana border, at a split with State Route 129, northwest of Ross, Ohio and ending east of Cincinnati at an intersection with U.S. Route 50 in Milford.State Route 126 is locally known for comprising most of Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway, a freeway that splits off of south Interstate 275 west of Cincinnati, crosses Interstate 75, and ends shortly after an intersection with Interstate 71. Ronald Reagan Highway was originally planned to extend out to Milford, but local opposition to the project in Indian Hill forced planners to abandon the segment east of Montgomery. From Interstate 71, it continues as a short divided highway until it merges with Montgomery Road (U.S. Route 22/State Route 3) near the Montgomery Heritage District.

Dwukrotnie - w latach 1980 i 1983 (wspólnie z Jurijem Andropowem) zdobył tytuł Człowieka Roku magazynu Time

Fu il più anziano presidente eletto (69 anni e 349 giorni); fu anche il più longevo (visse 93 anni e 120 giorni) dopo Gerald Ford.Il suo stile oratorio persuasivo gli guadagnò il soprannome di "Grande comunicatore". Prima di entrare in politica fu un attore di cinema e fu a capo della Screen Actors Guild. Negli anni '40 aderì al Partito Democratico, ma passò ai Repubblicani negli anni '60. Fu governatore della California per due mandati. Dopo la sconfitta di Barry Goldwater alle presidenziali del 1964, Reagan divenne la figura più importante del movimento conservatore degli Stati Uniti. Nel 1976, Reagan tentò - senza successo - di candidarsi alla presidenza. Nel 1980, il malessere economico nazionale spinse la Convenzione Repubblicana, riunita a Detroit, a candidare Ronald Reagan alla Casa Bianca.
