Robin Hood

Robin Hood is a figure in archetypal English folk tales. Many accounts of Robin Hood, though not the very earliest, bear a striking similarity to accounts of the life of Fulk FitzWarin, a Norman noble who was disinherited and became an outlaw and an enemy of John of England. In the oldest legends the outlaw's enemy is the sheriff due simply to his profession, but in later versions the sheriff is despotic and gravely abuses his position, appropriating land, levying excessive taxation, and persecuting the poor. In some tales the antagonist is Prince John, based on the historical John of England, who is seen as the unjust usurper of his pious brother Richard the Lionheart. In the oldest versions surviving, Robin Hood is a yeoman, but in some later versions he is described as a nobleman, the earl of Loxley (or Locksley), who was unjustly deprived of his lands. In other stories, he has served in the crusades, returning to England to find his lands pillaged by the dastardly sheriff. In some tales he is the champion of the people, fighting against corrupt officials and the oppressive order that protects them, while in others he is an arrogant and headstrong rebel, who delights in bloodshed, cruelly slaughtering and beheading his victims.

Robin des Bois est un archétype du héros folklorique du Moyen Âge. Son nom anglais Robin Hood signifie littéralement « Robin la Capuche », et non pas « Robin des Bois », comme l'homophonie de « hood » avec « wood » l'a souvent laissé penser, selon la version anglo-saxonne. Robin des Bois est aussi peut-être un personnage plus ancien de la Bretagne insulaire : hood = ch'oad en vieux breton (prononcez hoad), signifie effectivement « bois » et c'est un des plus anciens noms de famille européens (Walt, Silva, Coat, Dubois...). La fameuse capuche serait donc un élément rajouté a posteriori par la légende anglo-saxonne pour expliquer le nom anglais « Robin Hood ». C'est une œuvre qui a été reprise par Walt Disney.

Robin Hood ist der Held einer englischen Legende  aus dem Mittelalter. Der Erzählung nach war Robin Hood ein Geächteter, der von den Reichen stahl und den Armen gab. Er wurde auch Robin von Locksley genannt. Seine Braut Lady Marian (engl.: Maid Marian) soll ein Mündel des Königs gewesen sein. Mit seinen Gesellen soll Robin Hood im Sherwood Forest in der Nähe von Nottingham gelebt haben. Weit verbreitet wurden Robin Hoods Legenden durch das Kinder- und Jugendbuch The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (1883) des amerikanischen Dichters Howard Pyle (1853–1911). Die Frage nach seiner tatsächlichen Existenz ist Gegenstand vieler Untersuchungen.

Robin Hood, znany też jako Robin z Loxley - postać legendarna, średniowieczny bohater grabiący bogatych i rozdający dobra ubogim. Robin Hood był banitą, który wraz z kompanami zamieszkiwał w lesie Sherwood i uprzykrzał życie szeryfowi z Nottingham. W większości wersji legendy o Robin Hoodzie jest on ułaskawiany przez powracającego do ojczyzny, po długim czasie nieobecności, króla Ryszarda Lwie Serce. Robin był także świetnym łucznikiem jego oryginalny łuk i dwie świetnie zachowane strzały można obecnie podziwiać w muzeum na zamku Nottingham W skład drużyny, z którą działa Robin wchodzą: brat Tuck, Will Stuteley, młody David z Doncasteru, Mały John, Much syn młynarza, Allan z Doliny i Will Szkarłatny, Lady Marion, a także wielu innych. Najsłynniejszej książkowej adaptacji legendy dokonał Howard Pyle. Jedną z ekranizacji legendy jest film Robin Hood: Książę Złodziei z Alanem Rickmanem i Kevinem Costnerem.

Robin Hood (probabilmente nato a Loxley, 25 marzo 1166 - morto probabilmente nella foresta di Kirklees Priory, 21 dicembre 1214) è un eroe popolare inglese che, nella moderna versione della leggenda, ruba ai ricchi per dare ai poveri. È un personaggio metà storico metà leggendario, probabilmente frutto della fusione del personaggio realmente esistito, bandito o nobile sassone decaduto, con le preesistenti leggende di un dio della foresta, plausibilmente omonimo. Se attualmente lo si immagina come un generoso fuorilegge abilissimo nell'uso dell'arco nella versione moderna della leggenda, viene dipinto diversamente nella versione medievale.
