Robert Gray (sea-captain)
Robert Gray (May 101755 – c. July, 1806) was an American merchant sea-captain and explorer. He captained the first American ship to circumnavigate the world, in 1790, and also entered and named the Columbia River, in 1792. His trading voyages to the northern Pacific coast of North America pioneered the American sea-borne fur trade there.
