Richard Wagner
Wilhelm Richard Wagner (; ; 22 May 1813 – 13 February 1883) was a German composer, conductor, theatre director and polemicist primarily known for his operas (or "music dramas", as he later called them). Wagner's compositions, particularly those of his later period, are notable for their complex texture, rich harmonies and orchestration, and the elaborate use of leitmotifs: musical themes associated with individual characters, places, ideas or plot elements. Unlike most other opera composers, Wagner wrote both the music and libretto for every one of his stage works. Perhaps the two best-known extracts from his works are the Ride of the Valkyries from the opera Die Walküre, and the Wedding March (Bridal Chorus) from the opera Lohengrin.

Richard Wagner
Wilhelm Richard Wagner (* 22. Mai 1813 in Leipzig; † 13. Februar 1883 in Venedig im Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi) war ein deutscher Komponist, Dramatiker, Schriftsteller, Theaterregisseur und Dirigent. Mit seinen Musikdramen gilt er als einer der bedeutendsten Erneuerer der europäischen Musik im 19. Jahrhundert. Er veränderte die Ausdrucksfähigkeit romantischer Musik und die theoretischen und praktischen Grundlagen der Oper, indem er dramatische Handlungen als Gesamtkunstwerk gestaltete und dazu Text, Musik und Regieanweisungen schrieb. Als erster Komponist gründete er Festspiele in dem von ihm geplanten Bayreuther Festspielhaus. Seine Neuerungen in der Harmonik beeinflussten die Entwicklung der Musik bis in die Moderne.

Richard Wagner
Wilhelm Richard Wagner (ur. 22 maja 1813 w Lipsku, zm. 13 lutego 1883 w Wenecji) – niemiecki kompozytor okresu romantyzmu.
Początkowo myślał o karierze literackiej, pilnie studiując zwłaszcza dzieła dawnej literatury niemieckiej, zawierające wątki mityczne i legendarne. Pierwsze dzieła muzyczne nie zyskały większego uznania (opery Boginki, Zakaz miłości wg Miarki za miarkę Szekspira). Od roku 1836 był dyrektorem teatru w Królewcu, a po jego bankructwie w roku 1837 został dyrektorem teatru w Rydze. Liczne długi zmusiły go do ucieczki przed wierzycielami za granicę – od roku 1839 przebywał w Paryżu, gdzie cierpiał nędzę. Zbliżył się tam do najwybitniejszych kompozytorów swoich czasów: G. Meyerbeera, Berlioza, a zwłaszcza Liszta, z którym się zaprzyjaźnił. Ukończył wówczas operę według własnego libretta Latający Holender, którą wystawiono w Dreźnie wraz z inną operą – Rienzi; obydwie przyniosły Wagnerowi spory sukces i 1843 mianowano go dyrygentem opery królewskiej w Dreźnie.
