Resin

Resin or Rosin (Oxford dictionary) is a hydrocarbon secretion of many plants, particularly coniferous trees, valued for its chemical constituents and uses such as varnishes, adhesives, as an important source of raw materials for organic synthesis, or for incense and perfume. Fossilized resins are the source of amber. The term is also used for synthetic substances of similar properties.

Les résines végétales sont des substances naturelles secrétées par certains végétaux. Elles ont l'aspect d'un liquide poisseux qui sèche plus ou moins rapidement au contact de l'air. Elles sont souvent fortement odorantes.

Harze sind je nach Temperatur und Alter, mehr oder weniger flüssige Produkte, die sich aus verschiedenen chemischen Substanzen zusammensetzen und zum Beispiel zur Herstellung von Lacken, Seifen, Arzneistoffen und Terpentin dienen. Im süddeutschen Raum und in Österreich wird das Harz als Pech bezeichnet.

Resine sind Extraktstoffe aus dehydrierten Naturharzen, die durch einen chemischen Umwandlungsprozess gewonnen werden. Resine werden als Zwischenprodukt in der chemischen Industrie z. B. als  Synthesekautschuk (für Autoreifen, Gummiformteile, Klebstoffe), Schiffsfarben oder zur Pigmentherstellung für Druckfarben und Lacke benötigt.

Żywica - substancja zawarta w niektórych roślinach, najczęściej w drzewach, szczególnie iglastych. Służy do zabezpieczania miejsc będących ranami drzewa. Żywica ma analogiczne znaczenie, co płytki krwi w ciele kręgowców. Barwa żywicy zależna jest od gatunku drzewa, z którego została pozyskana (od białej, przezroczystej do szarej).

Per resina vegetale si intende qualsiasi miscela prodotta da una pianta, di tipo liposolubile costituita da composti terpenici volatili e non volatili e/o di composti fenolici che siano: 1. prodotti e stoccati in strutture specializzate interne o superficiali, e 2. che svolgano un ruolo nelle relazioni ecologiche della pianta. In alcuni casi le resine possono essere indotte in un sito di lesione senza essere preformate e stoccate. Operativamente si possono poi distinguere le resine in vari modi, a seconda che esse siano state indotte da lesioni o siano già presenti nelle strutture delle piante, o a seconda che la resina sia un essudato chiaramente identificabile e fisicamente separabile dalla pianta (come nel caso della resina di pino e abete) oppure parte integrante dei tessuti (come nel caso della Calendula).
