The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK, or Britain) is a sovereign state located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. The country includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands. Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK that shares a land border with another sovereign state—the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea.

O Reino Unido da Grã-Bretanha e Irlanda do Norte (habitualmente referido apenas como Reino Unido) é um país e um  estado soberano formado geograficamente pela Grã-Bretanha e ilhas adjacentes e pelo nordeste da ilha da Irlanda, sendo limitado a norte e a oeste pelo Oceano Atlântico, a leste pelo Mar do Norte, a sul pelo Canal da Mancha, que o separa do resto da Europa, e a oeste pela República da Irlanda (única fronteira terrestre) e pelo Mar da Irlanda.

El Reino Unido de Gran Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte, o simplemente Reino Unido (incorrectamente llamado Gran Bretaña o Inglaterra) es un país y un estado soberano ubicado al noroeste de la Europa Continental. Su territorio, con capital en Londres, está formado geográficamente por la isla de Gran Bretaña, el noreste de la isla de Irlanda y pequeñas islas adyacentes. Irlanda del Norte es la única parte del Reino con una frontera terrestre, que la separa de la República de Irlanda. Aparte de esta frontera, el Reino Unido está rodeado al norte y al oeste por el océano Atlántico, al este por el Mar del Norte, al sur por el Canal de la Mancha y al oeste por el mar de Irlanda. La isla más grande, Gran Bretaña, está unida a Francia por el Eurotúnel.
