Rehovot

Rehovot (, ) is a city in the Center District of Israel, about 20 km south of Tel Aviv. According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), at the end of 2004 the city had a total population of 101,900. Rehovot's official website estimates the population at 114,000. Rehovot's mayor is Shuki Forer.

Rechowot (hebr. , arabisch , andere Schreibweise Rehovot)) ist eine Stadt in Israel. Sie liegt etwa 20 Kilometer südlich von Tel Aviv und hat 101.800 Einwohner (2005). Der Name leitet sich von einem biblischen Ort ab. Bürgermeister ist Shuki Forer.In der Stadt befinden sich das Weizmann-Institut für Wissenschaften und die agronomische Fakultät der Hebräischen Universität von Jerusalem.

Rehovot of Rechovot (רחובות) (spreek uit: ReCHOvot) is een Israëlische stad in de centrale kustvlakte, ten zuid-oosten van Tel Aviv. De stad had in december 2007 naar 106.200 inwoners (afgerond op de 100). Rehovot is de hoofdstad van een subdistrict met dezelfde naam.De rustieke stad staat bekend om het wereldbefaamde Weizmann Instituut der Wetenschappen, welk leidde tot de vestiging van vele hightechondernemingen in een science-park, waaronder Indigo NV, uitvinder van de digitale kleurenoffsetdrukpers, ca. 2002 overgenomen door Hewlett-Packard (HP). Verder de agrarische faculteit van de Hebreeuwse Universiteit van Jeruzalem, het grote Kaplan-ziekenhuis, sinaasappelboomgaarden rondom, maar een saai uitgaansleven. Rishon LeZion, Ashdod, doch vooral Tel Aviv liggen echter nabij.
