Region Hannover

Hanover (officially in German: Region Hannover) is a district (county) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Soltau-Fallingbostel, Celle, Gifhorn, Peine, Hildesheim, Hamelin-Pyrmont, Schaumburg and Nienburg.The District of Hanover has a unique legal status among the districts of Lower Saxony. It includes the City of Hanover, the state capital, which has the same privileges as a city that is not part of a district. As a consequence, the District is much larger in population than any other district of the state. Its administrative body is the Regionsparlament (engl.: "regional parliament"), headed by the Regionspräsident or "region president" (Hauke Jagau (SPD) since 2006). Both the members of the Regionsparlament and the Regionspräsident are elected once every five years in local elections.

Die Region Hannover ist ein Kommunalverband besonderer Art. Sie wurde zum 1. November 2001 aus den Gemeinden des bisherigen Landkreises Hannover und der bisher kreisfreien Stadt Hannover gebildet, zugleich wurde der Landkreis Hannover und der Kommunalverband Großraum Hannover aufgelöst. Die Region Hannover übernahm auch Aufgaben der damaligen Bezirksregierung Hannover. Die Region Hannover liegt in der südlichen Mitte Niedersachsens und grenzt im Westen an die Landkreise Schaumburg und Nienburg/Weser, im Norden an die Landkreise Soltau-Fallingbostel und Celle, im Osten an die Landkreise Gifhorn und Peine und im Süden an die Landkreise Hildesheim und Hameln-Pyrmont.

La Region Hannover (Regione di Hannover) è un circondario rurale tedesco che si trova nel Land di Bassa Sassonia. È composto da 21 comuni ed il suo capoluogo, Hannover, pur essendo "de jure" una città extracircondariale, è "de facto" compresa nel circondario, ed è la più grande città tedesca con questa particolarità.
