Red Sea

The connection to the ocean is in the south through the Bab el Mandeb sound and the Gulf of Aden. In the north are the Sinai Peninsula, the Gulf of Aqaba) and the Gulf of Suez (leading to the Suez Canal). The Red Sea is a Global 200 ecoregion.

Il Mar Rosso (in arabo: البحر الأحمر, ; ebraico ים סוף, Yam Suf; tigrino ቀይሕ ባሕሪ, ) è un mare compreso tra l'Africa e la Penisola arabica comunicante con il Mar Mediterraneo attraverso il canale di Suez, e con l'Oceano Indiano tramite lo stretto di Bab el-Mandeb. Il Mar Rosso si biforca in corrispondenza della penisola del Sinai, dando luogo al Golfo di Aqaba ad oriente, e al Golfo di Suez ad occidente. Sul mar Rosso si affacciano Egitto, Israele, Giordania, Arabia Saudita, Yemen, Gibuti, Eritrea e Sudan
