Rana è il nome comune assegnato ad alcuni anfibi dell'ordine Anura appartenenti alla famiglia Ranidae e ad altre famiglie. Vengono distinte dai rospi appartenenti alla famiglia Bufonidae. La rana più grande che pesa circa 2kg è la Rana Golia. La più piccola la pigmea che può stare tranquillamente sdraiata su la punta di un dito.

La Luna della Terra di Mezzo è un astro dell'universo immaginario fantasy creato da J.R.R. Tolkien. Essa fu creata dai Valar in seguito all'oscuramento di Valinor e precedette di poco la creazione del Sole. Aulë insieme alla sua gente fabbricò un vaso per contenere l'ultimo fiore d'argento di Telperion e preservarne la luce. Poi il vaso fu affidato a Varda che ne fece un'isola del cielo, in grado di attraversare le regioni inferiori di Ilmen lungo un itinerario prestabilito. L'isola della Luna era guidata da Tilion. È da notare che, al contrario dell'italiano, la Luna è di genere maschile sia in inglese che nell'universo tolkieniano.
