Ramones

The Ramones were an American rock band often regarded as the first punk rock group.After forming in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, in 1974, they performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, the band went on a brief nightclub tour and then disbanded. The band's three founding members—Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone—each died within eight years after the breakup.

Les Ramones étaient un groupe de punk rock originaire de New York et qui fait partie des premières formations du mouvement punk. Fondé en janvier 1974, le groupe enregistra 14 albums en studio et effectua de nombreuses tournées avant de se séparer en 1996. Leur look se détachait par son minimalisme et son aspect négligé : cheveux longs, blousons de cuir des années 1950, jeans déchirés aux genoux. Ce style sera repris plus tard par le mouvement grunge. Ils n'hésitaient pas à jouer avec l'humour noir accompagné d'une musique entrecoupée de slogans, comme par exemple « » - qui signifie en français : « Tape sur le môme avec une batte de base-ball » - ou le titre provocateur de  Blitzkrieg Bop, une allusion à la guerre menée par l'Allemagne nazie, « », le deuxième sens de cette chanson étant un hommage aux fans des Ramones qui se déchainent dans leurs concerts, ainsi que « » en référence au fameux « Aujourd'hui l'Allemagne, demain le monde » de Hitler. Naturellement, ces titres ne sont que de la provocation punk.

Die Ramones waren eine Musikgruppe aus Queens, New York City, USA. Sie gelten als Prototyp der Punkband, obwohl der Begriff Punk als Genrebezeichnung erst später im Zusammenhang mit einer britischen Subkultur populär wurde. Sie schufen Mitte der Siebziger eher ungewollt eine neue Musikrichtung, da sie die damals produzierte Rockmusik im Zeitalter von Pink Floyd und Led Zeppelin nicht ausstehen konnten (In 1974, there was nothing to listen to anymore. - Joey Ramone). Ihre Musik orientierte sich an wenigen Vorbildern wie The Who, den Kinks, den Beach Boys, den Stooges, MC5 und dem amerikanischen Rock 'n' Roll der 1950er-Jahre. Typisch waren einfache Harmonien und Strukturen sowie das völlige Fehlen von Soli, Intros oder Übergängen. Sie bilden damit die totale Antithese zu Stilrichtungen wie Art Rock, Progressive Rock oder Fusion. Dafür waren die Songs durch extreme Geschwindigkeit und Lautstärke gekennzeichnet. Ebenso simpel wie die Komposition waren auch die Texte gehalten, die oft an Kinderreime erinnerten, in ihrer Thematik aber explizit auf die sozialen Probleme und Fragestellungen der 1970er Jahre eingingen.

I Ramones furono uno dei più influenti gruppi musicali punk rock statunitensi. Formatosi a Forest Hills, nel Queens (New York), intorno al marzo 1974, il gruppo fu fra i fondatori del movimento punk rock newyorkese. Tra il 1974 ed il 1996 i Ramones eseguirono 2.263 concerti, con una media di 2 concerti a settimana. Nel 1996, con più di dieci album alle spalle, il gruppo si sciolse. Tre membri del gruppo, Johnny, Dee Dee e Joey, morirono nel decennio successivo.Nei loro 22 anni di musica i Ramones non ottennero mai un gran successo commerciale. Il loro unico disco d'oro è la raccolta Ramones Mania . L'apprezzamento per il gruppo è nato intorno al 2000: a partire da quel momento gli album della band compaiono regolarmente nelle liste dei "migliori di tutti i tempi" in molte riviste musicali autorevoli, come Rolling Stone o Mojo. Nel 2002 la rivista Spin Magazine ha descritto i Ramones come la seconda più grande band rock and roll della storia, dopo i Beatles.. Il 18 marzo 2002 i Ramones entrarono nella Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
