Rajputana was the pre-1949 name of the present-day Indian state of Rajasthan, the largest state of the Republic of India in terms of area. During British period, this area had 23 Princely states, as well as one chiefdom, one estate, and the British district of Ajmer-Merwara. Most of the ruling princes were Rajputs, the warrior rulers who entered the region in the 7th century AD. The largest states were Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, and Udaipur. In 1947 the Princely states were consolidated and the princes were pensioned off.

Rajasthan (Hindi: , ; []) -Land der Könige ist ein indischer Bundesstaat mit einer Fläche von 342.239 km² und 65.466.000 Einwohnern (Stand 2008). Die Hauptstadt Rajasthans ist Jaipur, und die Amtssprachen sind Hindi und Englisch.

Le Rajasthan (Hindî : राजस्थान, Ourdou : راجستان), le pays de rois, est un État de l'ouest de l'Inde. Sa capitale est Jaipur. Il est bordé à l'ouest par le Pakistan, au nord par le Penjab, au nord-est par l'Haryana et l'Uttar Pradesh, au sud-est par le Madhya Pradesh et au sud-ouest par le Gujarat.

Rajputana è il nome di una regione storica dell'India nord-occidentale, compresa tra il Punjab a Nord e il Gujarat a Sud. Corrisponde alla zona tra i fiumi Indo e Gange, consiste per buona parte in un altopiano steppico attraversato diagonalmente da Nordest a Sudovest dalla catena dei monti Aravalli. Il suo nome è dovuto alla dinastia dei Rajput che qui ha dominato con fasi alterne dal VII al XVI secolo. Il suo territorio coincide quasi interamente con il moderno Stato di Rajasthan.
