Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) is an AAA (authentication, authorization and accounting) protocol for applications such as network access or IP mobility. It is intended to work in both local and roaming situations.Many networks services (including corporate networks and public ISPs using modem, DSL, or wireless 802.11 technologies) require you to present security credentials (such as a username and password or security certificate) in order to connect on to the network. Before access to the network is granted, this information is passed to a Network Access Server (NAS) device over the link-layer protocol (for example, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) in the case of many dialup or DSL providers), then to a RADIUS server over the RADIUS protocol. The RADIUS server checks that the information is correct using authentication schemes like PAP, CHAP or EAP. If accepted, the server will then indicate to the NAS that you are authorized to access the network. RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) est un protocole client-serveur permettant de centraliser des données d'authentification. En français on préfère souvent parler d'identification pour traduire l'anglais authentication, car l'identification effectuée par un serveur Radius est une vérification de nom d'utilisateur (attribut 1 User-Name) et de mot de passe (attribut 2 User-Password ou 3 Chap-Password). L'authentification en français est définie comme la vérification approfondie par un expert ou un officier ministériel et correspond à l'anglicisme authentification forte pour "strong authentication", mais l'abus de langage est courant.

Promień (oznaczany literą od łacińskiego słowa radius) – to w geometrii odcinek łączący środek koła, okręgu, kuli lub sfery z dowolnym punktem położonym na jej brzegu, a także długość tego odcinka. Długość promienia jest w tym przypadku zawsze równa połowie długości średnicy, dana wzorem: .Jednak w inżynierii bądź w teorii grafów promień jest odcinkiem łączącym środek jakiejkolwiek figury lub bryły (np. walca, wielokąta, grafu) z dowolnym punktem, który może być położony również poza nią. W takim właśnie przypadku promień nie musi być o połowę krótszy od średnicy, a może być nawet od niej dłuższy.

Secondo la definizione classica della geometria, il raggio di un cerchio o di una sfera è un segmento di retta avente un estremo sulla circonferenza o superficie sferica, e l'altro estremo nel centro della figura. Per estensione si definisce raggio di un cerchio o di una sfera anche la lunghezza di un tale segmento. Il raggio è la metà del diametro.
