Rc
rc is the command line interpreter for Version 10 UnixPlan 9, and Inferno operating systems. It resembles the Bourne shell, but its syntax is somewhat simpler. It was created by Tom Duff, who is better known for an unusual C programming language construct called Duff's device.A rewrite of rc for Unix-like operating systems by Byron Rakitzis is also available but includes some incompatible changes. A port of the original rc to Unix is part of Plan 9 from User Space.

Abbreviation for reflection coefficient.
 
reflection coefficient (RC)
1. The ratio of the amplitude of the reflected wave and the amplitude of the incident wave. (188 ) 2. At a discontinuity in a transmission line, the complex ratio of the electric field strength of the reflected wave to that of the incident wave. (188 ) Note 1: The reflection coefficient may also be established using other field or circuit quantities. Note 2: The reflection coefficient is given by where Z 1 is the impedance toward the source, Z 2 is the impedance toward the load, the vertical bars designate absolute magnitude, and SWR is the standing wave ratio.

1. <filename extension> (run commands) The filename extension common to many Unix configuration files, e.g. .newsrc.cshrc.twmrc, elmrc, etc.
The suffix "rc" derives from a script-creation utility in CTSS called "runcom" (for "run commands").
