RAW image format

A raw image file (sometimes written RAW image file ) contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of a digital camera or image scanner. Raw files are so named because they are not yet processed and ready to be used with a bitmap graphics editor or printed. Normally, the image will be processed by a raw converter in a wide-gamut internal colorspace where precise adjustments can be made before conversion to an RGB file format such as TIFF or JPEG for storage, printing, or further manipulation.

RAW est un format de fichier pour les images numériques. Ce n'est pas un format standard, mais plutôt la désignation d'un certain type de fichier créé par des dispositifs tels que les appareils photo numériques ou les scanneurs et caractérisé par le fait d'avoir subi un minimum de traitement informatique.

Als Rohdatenformat oder RAW bezeichnet man ein Datenformat, in dem Daten, die noch nicht ausgewertet, zusammengefasst, optimiert, komprimiert oder interpretiert wurden, gespeichert oder übertragen werden, zum Beispiel die noch nicht fehlerbereinigten Messwerte eines Sensors. Ein bekanntes Beispiel hierfür ist das RAW-Format in der Digitalfotografie.

RAW (ang. surowy) - ogólne określenie formatów zapisu danych bez nagłówków (informatyka). W fotografii cyfrowej rejestracja obrazu w formacie RAW pozwala na zachowanie najwyższej jakości obrazu oferowanej przez aparat (duża głębia koloru, brak kompresji stratnej), dając możliwość dokładnej obróbki pliku na komputerze. Plik w formacie RAW uważa się za cyfrowy odpowiednik negatywu, a ich konwersję za wywołanie. Wywołanie RAW-u można powtarzać np. dla różnego balansu bieli, ale jest procesem nieodwracalnym. Nie można przekształcić zdjęć np. w formacie jpg na format RAW.
