Reverse Address Resolution Protocol
The Reverse Address Resolution Protocol (RARP) is an obsolete computer networking protocol used by a host computer to request its Internet Protocol (IPv4) address from an administrative host, when it has available its Link Layer or hardware address, such as a MAC address.

Reverse Address Resolution Protocol
Reverse Address Resolution Protocol (förkortas RARP) är ett protokoll i nätverksskiktet som används av en dator för att ta reda på dess IPv4-adress givet dess adress i datalänkskiktet, exempelvis en MAC-adress. RARP beskrivs i IETF:s publikation RFC 903.

Reverse Address Resolution Protocol
RARP (ang. Reverse Address Resolution Protocol) Protokół komunikacyjny przekształcania 48-bitowych fizycznych adresów MAC na 32-bitowe adresy IP w komputerowych sieciach typu Ethernet.
Jego istota polega na tym, że pytający wysyła do sieci zapytanie:
Jaki jest adres IP dla danego adresu MAC aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff ?
Jaki jest adres IP dla danego adresu MAC aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff ?
Inny komputer odpowiada:
Komputer mający adres MAC aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff ma adres IP 1.2.3.4
Komputer mający adres MAC aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff ma adres IP 1.2.3.4
