Rare Ltd., auch als Rare bzw. Rareware bekannt, ist eine britische Entwicklerfirma, die lange Zeit Videospiele exklusiv für Nintendo-Spielkonsolen entwickelte, bis sie von Microsoft übernommen wurde. Die Firma wurde 1985 von Tim und Chris Stamper, die zum Jahreswechsel 2006/2007 zurücktraten, gegründet. Nach ihrem Rücktritt übernahmen Mark Betteridge und Gregg Mayles die Leitung der Firma. Rare hieß ursprünglich Ashby Computer Graphics (A.C.G) und veröffentlichte die Spiele unter dem Namen Ultimate Play The Game.

Rare Ltd., wcześniej znana jako Rareware, jest firmą z Wielkiej Brytanii zajmującą się tworzeniem gier wideo. Firmę założyli w 1983 roku bracia Tim i Chris Stamper, nazwali ją ULTIMATE "Play The Game". Przez kilka lat ULTIMATE było podwykonawcą oddziału produkcji gier firmy Nintendo, wreszcie w 2002 roku firma Rare została przejęta przez Microsoft za kwotę 337 milionów dolarów. Była to największa w historii kwota zapłacona za przejęcie producenta gier komputerowych.
