RAINSTICK

A rainstick is a long, hollow tube which is filled with small baubles such as beads or beans and has small pins arranged helically on its inside surface. When the stick is upended, the beads fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of a rainstorm as they bounce off the pins. The rainstick is generally used to create atmospheric sound effects or as a percussion instrument.

Le bâton de pluie est une percussion de la catégorie des idiophones répandu parmi les peuples premiers mais aussi parmi les bergers au Chili, où il s'appelle « cascades » par exemple. En Mélanésie, on l'appelle « bâton de parole » et tel un sablier, il chronomètre et autorise le temps de parole de chaque orateur que lors d'un seul passage.

Az esobot egy feltehetoleg dél-amerikai eredetu idiofon hangszer. A cso hosszú, üreges, és apróságokkal (gyöngy, bab, kavicsok) van töltve. A belsejében spirálisan, csigalépcsoszeruen pálcikák vannak elhelyezve. Ha a botot fejtetore állítjuk, a gyöngyök lassan lecsorognak a cso aljára, de közben meg-megpattanak a pálcikákon, ezzel eloidézve a zivatarra emlékezteto neszeket. Az esobot egy olyan eszköz, ami vagy atmoszférát teremto hangot ad, vagy rázóhangszerként használható.
