RER
The RER (; , "Regional Express Network") is a rapid transit system in France serving Paris and its suburbs. The RER is an integration of a modern city-centre underground rail and a pre-existing set of commuter rail lines. It has several connections with the Paris Métro within the city of Paris. Within the city, the RER functions like the Métro, but as it has fewer stops, the system acts as one of express trains. Since 1999 the network has consisted of five lines: A, B, C, D and E. The RER is still expanding; Line E, which opened in 1999, is planned for westward extension by 2020.

Réseau express régional d'Île-de-France
Réseau express régional d'Île-de-France (pl. Regionalna sieć ekspresowa Île-de-France), RER - miejska sieć kolejowa w aglomeracji paryskiej.
RER jest hybrydowym systemem komunikacyjnym, który integruje metro typu śródmiejskiego z istniejącą uprzednio koleją podmiejską. W mieście RER służy jako kolejowa sieć ekspresowa, która łączy się z paryskim metrem (Paris Métro). Zasadnicza, szkieletowa struktura RER została ukończona jako zakrojona na szeroką skalę inwestycja komunikacyjna w latach 1962 - 1977, która charakteryzuje sie obszernymi, położonymi na dużej głębokości stacjami. Sieć RER jest dalej rozwijana nowa linia E została uruchomiona w 1999 r. Wg stanu na 2006 r. RER składa się z 5 linii: A, B, C, D i E.
