Quark

In particle physics, the quark (pronounced ) is one of the two basic constituents of matter (the other is the lepton). Quarks make up protons and neutrons, with there being exactly three quarks within each kind of particle.There are six different types of quark, usually known as flavors: up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. (Their names were chosen arbitrarily based on the need to name them something that could be easily remembered and used.) The strange, charm, bottom and top varieties are highly unstable and died out within a fraction of a second after the Big Bang; they can be recreated and studied by particle physicists. The up and down varieties survive in profusion, and are distinguished by (among other things) their electric charge. It is this which makes the difference when quarks clump together to form protons or neutrons: a proton is made up of two up quarks and one down quark, yielding a net charge of +1; while a neutron contains one up quark and two down quarks, yielding a net charge of 0.

QuArK (aka Quake Army Knife), is a free toolkit and environment for developing 3D computer game levels for a large variety of popular games, mostly first-person shooters using engines similar to or based on the Quake engine by id Software. QuArK has the ability to directly edit maps, and to a limited extent, models. It can import, export, and convert sounds, textures and various other game assets. It is also possible to move or change dynamic game objects without the need to recompile the whole map which makes finetuning of details much easier and quicker.

Quarks sind die elementaren Bestandteile (Elementarteilchen), aus denen man sich Hadronen aufgebaut denkt. Sie tragen einen Spin von ½ und sind damit Fermionen. Zusammen mit den Leptonen und den Eichbosonen gelten sie heute als die fundamentalen Bausteine, aus denen alle Materie aufgebaut ist. So bestehen Baryonen (z. B. das  Proton) aus drei Quarks, Mesonen (z. B. das  Pion) jeweils aus einem Quark und einem Antiquark.

QuArK (Quake Army Knife) - program komputerowy służący do tworzenia i edytowania poziomów do wielu znanych gier komputerowych typu FPS. Sam w sobie jest tylko edytorem. Do kompilacji map potrzebuje dodatkowych kompilatorów udostępnianych przez producentów gier, bądź tworzonych przez niezależne od nich grupy programistyczne.

Kwark to cząstka należąca do grupy cząstek elementarnych - kwarków. Według obecnej wiedzy cząstki elementarne będące składnikami materii można podzielić na dwie grupy. Pierwszą grupę stanowią kwarki, drugą grupą są leptony. Każda z tych grup zawiera po sześć cząstek oraz ich antycząstki. Istnieje więc sześć rodzajów kwarków oraz odpowiednio sześć rodzajów ich antycząstek - antykwarków.

La teoria dei quark venne avanzata per la prima volta nel 1963 dai fisici statunitensi Murray Gell-Mann e George Zweig, che ipotizzarono di poter spiegare le proprietà di molte particelle considerandole composte da quark elementari. Il nome quark deriva da "three quarks for Muster Mark", una frase senza senso contenuta nel romanzo Finnegans Wake di James Joyce.
