( Prolong repolarization syndrome )
The QT interval starts from the start of "QRS" complex to the end of the "T" wave. This interval represents the time taken to depolarize and repolarize the vetricular myocardium.
The causes of long QT interval (prolonged repolarization) are:
(A) Congenital syndromes
*Jervell-Lange-Nelson syndrome(autosomal recessive).In this syndrome there is also congenital deafness.
*Romano-Ward syndrome(autosomal dominant)
(B) Electrolyte abnormalities
*Hypokalaemia
