Psalms (from the Greek: Psalmoi) (originally meaning "songs sung to a harp", from psallein "play on a stringed instrument", Ψαλμοί; Hebrew: Tehilim, תהילים, or "praises") is a book of the Hebrew Bible, Tanakh or Old Testament.In the Hebrew Bible, the Psalms are counted among the "Writings" or Ketuvim (one of the three main sections into which the books are grouped).The Book of Psalms, especially if printed separately and set for singing or chanting, is also called the Psalter.

Le livre des Psaumes (ספר תהילים Sefer Tehillim en hébreu, Livre des Louanges) est un livre de la Bible hébraïque (l'"Ancien Testament" des chrétiens), le premier de la section des Ketouvim. Dans l'Évangile selon Luc (24:44), c'est à l'ensemble des Ketouvim (Écrits) que le mot "psaumes" fait référence. Par cette synecdoque, le Livre des Psaumes est présenté comme le livre le plus important des Ketouvim.

Księga Psalmów [Ps], Psałterz, Psałterz Dawidowy (w średniowiecznej łacinie psalterium od gr. psalterion, z gr. psallo, śpiewać) - wchodzący w skład Biblii (Stary Testament) zbiór 150 utworów poetyckich w języku hebrajskim. Zebranie psalmów (i autorstwo wielu z nich) tradycyjnie przypisywano królowi Dawidowi, a także Jeremiaszowi i królowi Salomonowi. Część zresztą zawiera w tytułach imię prawdziwego albo domniemanego autora, okoliczności powstania, sposób wykonania oraz inne uwagi. Obecnie uważa się, że Księga Psalmów powstawała w długim okresie historycznym: niektóre są bardzo stare, inne zawierają aluzje do niewoli babilońskiej (np. Ps 137).

I Salmi o il libro dei Salmi (Tehilim תהילים, in ebraico) è un libro della Bibbia ebraica e dell'Antico Testamento nella Bibbia cristiana. Poiché il libro contiene una raccolta di inni e canti, il termine salmo può essere utilizzato in senso generale per indicare un canto religioso o un poema di lode.
