Prometeo

Prometeo (Prometheus) is an opera, described as a "Tragedia dell'Ascolto" ("Tragedy for listening") with music by Luigi Nono. The Italian libretto was by Massimo Cacciari, taking selections from texts by a variety of authors, including [Aeschylus and Rainer Maria Rilke. It premiered at the Church of San Lorenzo (Venice) on September 25, 1984. Claudio Abbado was the conductor, with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, a choir from the Freiburg Conservatorium, and the following vocal soloists:Ingrid AdeMonika Bair-IvenzBernadette Manca di NissaSusanne OttoMario Bolognesi The score incorporates electronic manipulation of the sounds from the vocalists and instrumentalists.
