Se llama posición a un punto del espacio físico a partir del cual es posible conocer donde se encuentra geométricamente un objeto en un instante dado. En física la posición se suele representar mediante:La ubicación, dada el vector posición mediante rLa Orientación (Geometría), dada por un número adicional de coordenadas generalizadas.
