Porsche 912

The Porsche 912 was a sports car manufactured by Porsche of Germany between 1965 and 1969 as their entry-level model. The 912 was a nimble-handling compact performance four-seat vehicle also capable of up to 30 mpg fuel economy. This combination was possible based on a combination of high-efficiency petrol engine, low-weight, and low drag. A variant of the Type 911, one of the most famous and successful sports cars of all time, upon initial offering the Type 912 initially outsold the 911, boosting the manufacturer's total production until success of the 911 was assured.

Der Porsche 911 sollte der Nachfolger des Porsche 356 werden. Allerdings endete die Produktion des 356 erst 1965. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurden von 1964 der 911 und der 356 parallel vermarktet. Der Grund war der große Preisunterschied zwischen den beiden Fahrzeugen. Damit nach Produktionseinstellung des Porsche 356 auch nicht so finanzkräftige Kunden weiterhin sich einen Porsche leisten konnten, wurde eine schwächere Variante des 911, der Porsche 912, auf den Markt gebracht.

Model 912 to zwrotny, kompaktowy samochód czteromiejscowy zdolny do przejechania 100 km na ośmiu litrach benzyny. La Porsche 912, prodotta dal 1965 al 1969 era una variante economica della più celebre Porsche 911. Di quest'ultima la 912 conservava la carrozzeria (coupé e, dal 1966 anche targa) e l'intera meccanica, a parte il motore, che era il 4 cilindri boxer raffreddato ad aria di 1584cc da 90cv dell'ultima Porsche 356 SC. Semplificati, rispetto alla 911 anche gli interni.
