Albanian Police
The Albanian State Police is the national police and law enforcement agency which operates throughout the Republic of Albania. The fall of Communism and the adoption of political pluralism after 1991 brought important changes to the structure of the Albanian Police. In April 1991, the Ministry of Public Order and the General Directorate of Police were established, followed by the introduction of a new law in July 1991 which led to the creation of the Public Order Police. Nearly 80% of the pre-1991 police force was replaced by new personnel, with the Albanian Police accepted into Interpol on November 4, 1991.
