Polar coordinate system
polar coordinates
1. Coordinates derived from the distance and angular measurements from a fixed point (pole). 2. In artillery and naval fire support, the direction, distance, and vertical correction from the observer/spotter position to the target. 1/9/74
coordonnées polaires
1. Coordonnées faisant appel à la distance et à des références angulaires par rapport à un point fixe (pôle). 2. En artillerie et en appui feu naval, gisement d'observation, distance et corrections en élévation entre la position de l'observateur et celle de l'objectif. 1/9/74
Polar Coordinates
Polar coordinates (r, ) represent the location of a point (in 2D space) by its distance (r) from a fixed point on a fixed line (polar axis) and the angle ( , in radians) from that fixed line.
Polar plots are used to visualize functions. They also offer an intuitive way to present relations involving a variable representing direction.
