Pliozän

Das Pliozän ist eine chronostratigraphische Serie des Neogen. Es begann vor etwa 5,33 Millionen Jahren und endete vor etwa 1,8 Millionen Jahren. Vor dem Pliozän liegt das Miozän. Nach ihm folgt das Pleistozän, die Eiszeit, mit einem Wechsel von Warm- und Kaltzeiten bis ins Holozän, der geologischen Gegenwart.
