Planescape

Planescape is a campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, originally designed by Zeb Cook. As its name suggests, the setting crosses and comprises the numerous planes of existence, encompassing an entire cosmology called the Great Wheel, as originally developed in the Manual of the Planes by Jeff Grubb. This includes many of the other Dungeons and Dragons worlds, linking them via inter-dimensional magical portals. The setting crossed Victorian era trappings with a pseudo-steampunk design and attitude. Planescape won acclaim on its unique visual aspects, products of artist Tony DiTerlizzi, Robh Ruppel, and Dana Knutson.

Planescape est un décor de campagne médiéval-fantastique pour le jeu de rôle Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. Sa particularité, parmi les autres décors de campagne de D&D est de comprendre toute une cosmologie qui englobe tous les autres univers de Donjons et Dragons. W odróżnieniu od typowych światów fantasy nie obejmuje on jednego kontynentu ani planety, a cały wszechświat, opisując dokładnie jego kosmologię. Rozwija on istniejącą w D&D ideę planu (płaszczyzny, sfery) egzystencji i umożliwia podróże między nimi. Planescape łączy ze sobą większość oficjalnych światów do D&D, takich jak: Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Greyhawk. Istnieją one w nim jako osobne planety na Pierwszym Planie Materialnym. Ze względu na specyficzną budowę świata, Planescape porusza wiele tematów natury filozoficznej, które mogą skłonić graczy do refleksji także poza grą.
