Philipp Melanchthon

Philipp Melanchthon (born Philipp Schwartzerd) (February 16, 1497 –  April 19, 1560) was a German professor and theologian, a key leader of the Lutheran Reformation, and a friend and associate of Martin Luther.

Philipp Melanchthon, eigentlich Philipp Schwartzerdt (* 16. Februar 1497 in Bretten; † 19. April 1560 in Wittenberg), war ein Philologe, Philosoph, Humanist, Theologe, Lehrbuchautor, neulateinischer Dichter und wurde als „Praeceptor Germaniae“ (Lehrer Deutschlands) bekannt. Neben Martin Luther wurde er als Reformator eine treibende Kraft der deutschen und europäischen kirchenpolitischen Reformation.
