Phalsbourg

Phalsbourg is a town in Moselle, (Lorraine), France. Its population is about 5000.In 1911, it was a town of Germany, in the imperial province of Alsace-Lorraine, lying high on the west slopes of the Vosges, 25 miles (40 km) north-west of Strasbourg by rail. In 1911, it contained an Evangelical and a Roman Catholic church, a synagogue and a teachers seminary. Its industries include the manufacture of gloves, straw hats and liqueurs, and also quarrying.

Phalsbourg (deutsch Pfalzburg) ist eine Gemeinde im Südosten des Départements Moselle.Der Ort wurde im Jahre 1570 von Georg Hans von Pfalz-Veldenz als Zufluchtsort für Protestanten aus dem angrenzenden Herzogtum Lothringen gegründet. 1661 kam er an Frankreich und wurde durch den berühmten französischen Baumeister Vauban militärisch befestigt. Zwischen 1871 und 1918 gehörte Phalsbourg noch einmal zum Deutschen Reich.
