Passover (
Hebrew: פֶּסַח,

Israeli: Pesach, Pesah, Pesakh,
Yiddish: Paysokh), is celebrated on the 14th day of the month called Nissan (Leviticus 23:4; Numbers 9:3,5; 28:16), first month of the Jewish year (on the
Hebrew calendar). It immediately precedes the Festival of Unleavened Bread (חַג הַמַּצּוֹת, , Chag Hamatzot/s), a
Jewish holiday which begins on the 15th day of Nissan (Leviticus 23:6; Numbers 28:17, 33:3) and is celebrated in the northern
spring season. In
2007, it arrives at nightfall on
April 2. Passover commemorates
the Exodus and freedom of the
Israelites from
ancient Egypt. As described in the Book of
Exodus, Passover marks the "birth" of the
Children of Israel who become the
Jewish nation, as the Jews' ancestors were freed from being slaves of
Pharaoh and allowed to become followers of
God instead.

Pessa'h
La Pâque juive (en
hébreu: פסח, Pessa'h «Il passa [par-dessus]»,
lat. pascha,
yiddish Peysah'), également appelée Zman Heroutenou (Le Temps de notre liberté), 'Hag HaMatzot (la fête des azymes), ou 'Hag HaAviv (la fête du printemps, plutôt traduite par fête du blé chez les
Karaïtes), est une
fête juive de 7 jours (8 jours en dehors de la
terre d'Israël). Elle commence le 15
Nissan (qui correspond en
2008 à la veille du
20 avril) au 22 Nissan. Elle commémore
l'Exode des
Hébreux hors d'
Égypte. Ainsi que le décrit le Livre de l'
Exode, Pessa'h marque la "naissance" des
enfants d'Israël, dont est issu le peuple Juif, les ancêtres des Juifs ayant été libérés du joug pharaonique et désormais libres de suivre les voies et prescriptions de
Dieu.

żydowskie obchodzone na pamiątkę wyzwolenia Żydów z niewoli egipskiej. W
Izraelu trwa 7 dni, a w
diasporze - 8 dni; poczynając od 15 dnia
nisan. Od dnia następnego liczony jest omer - jest to okres 7 tygodni, prawie żałobny, w którym ortodoksyjni żydzi nie odprawiają wesel, nie strzygą włosów ani się nie golą.

ашкеназском произношении — Пе́йсах / Пе́йсох; , Пи́сха; по-гречески и по-русски — Пасха) — центральный
еврейский праздник в память об
Исходе из
Египта. Начинается на 15-й день весеннего месяца
нисан и празднуется в течение 7 дней в Израиле и 8 — вне Израиля.
Тора запрещает евреям в течение праздника употреблять в пищу хлеб и любые другие продукты, содержащие зерновые, которые подверглись закваске (, «хаме́ц» — квасное). Также Тора повелевает есть в эти дни
мацу (опресноки).
