Overview
The Persian is one of the most placid breeds. Gentle, quiet, and sweet-natured, Persians will not necessarily play with the kids, but neither will a houseful of children bother them--not much does! Just keep in mind that sticky-fingered kids can wreak havoc with the Persian's voluminous coat. These cats seem to be one of the least vocal breeds, although some owners describe their voices as melodious. The Persian--or Longhair, as the breed is known in the United Kingdom--is an extremely popular breed; three-quarters of all registered pedigreed cats are Persians.
