In Greek mythology, Persephone (, ; ), also called Kore (; "the maiden"), is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest-goddess Demeter, and queen of the underworld. Homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic queen of the shades, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. Persephone was abducted by Hades, the god-king of the underworld. The myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence she is also associated with spring and with the seeds of the fruits of the fields. Similar myths appear in the Orient, in the cults of male gods like Attis, Adonis and Osiris, and in Minoan Crete.

Persephone (griechisch: Περσεφόνη, älteste Form Περσόφαττα mit der Bedeutung die, „welche [beim Dreschen] die Garben schlägt“) ist in der griechischen Mythologie eine Toten-, Unterwelt- und Fruchtbarkeitsgöttin. In der römischen Mythologie wird sie als Proserpina aus dem unterworfenen Griechenland zusammen mit den Sklaven importiert, nachdem ihre ursprüngliche Identität mit der altrömischen Ceres nicht deutlich ist.

Dans la mythologie grecque, Perséphone (en grec ancien  / Persephónê, chez Homère  / Persephóneia) est la déesse des Enfers, fille de Zeus et de Déméter. Elle est d'abord connue sous le simple nom de Coré ( / Kórê) « la jeune fille », ou encore « la fille », par opposition à Déméter, « la mère » ( / hê mêtềr).

Persefone, även kallad en Kore (Kouros för man, arkaisk tid) var en gudinna i grekisk mytologi, dotter till Demeter och Zeus. Hon är mamma till Macaria.

Persefona (gr. Persephone; także Kora - gr. Kore) – w   mitologii greckiej córka Demeter i Zeusa, bogini kiełkującego ziarna oraz świata podziemnego. Gdy zerwała zdradziecki kwiat Narcyza została uprowadzona przez Hadesa. Bóg podstępnie poczęstował ją owocem granatu. Przez to stała się jego żoną i zarazem panią podziemnego świata zmarłych. Atrybuty Persefony to kłosy, maki, narcyzy i owoc granatu. Persefona w podziemiach spędzała tylko zimę. Wywoływało to smutek Demeter, która z tego powodu zsyłała na świat chłód. Na wiosnę, kiedy Persefona powracała do matki świat pokrywał się kwiatami. Jesienią Demeter zaczynała odczuwać smutek wiedząc o przyszłym rozstaniu z córką, co powodowało obumieranie całej natury. W ten sposób starożytni Grecy wyjaśniali sobie następstwo pór roku.
