The Permanent Court of International Justice, often called the World Court, was an international court attached to the League of Nations. Created in 1922 (although the idea of an international court was several centuries old), the Court was initially met with a good reaction from states and academics alike, with many cases submitted to it for its first decade of operation. With the heightened international tension of the 1930s the Court was used with decreasing regularity; by a resolution by the League of Nations on 18 April 1946, the Court ceased to exist, being replaced by the International Court of Justice.

Der Ständige Internationale Gerichtshof (StIGH) (engl. Permanent Court of International Justice, PCIJ; franz. Cour permanente de Justice internationale, CPJI) war ein von September 1922 bis Oktober 1945 bestehendes internationales Gericht mit Sitz in der niederländischen Stadt Den Haag. Er entstand auf der Grundlage der Satzung des Völkerbundes, dessen Organe unter anderem auch für die Ausarbeitung der Rechtsgrundlagen des Gerichtshofes und die Wahl der Richter zuständigen waren. Mit dem Ende des Völkerbundes nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde auch der StIGH aufgelöst, seine Nachfolgeinstitution wurde 1946 der als Hauptrechtsprechungsorgan der Vereinten Nationen geschaffene Internationale Gerichtshof.

Suite à la Première Guerre mondiale de 1914-1918, le pacte de la Société des Nations est signé en 1922 créant la Cour permanente de justice internationale (CPJI). C'est la deuxième instance de recours international existante (la Cour d'arbitrage international de La Haye avait été crée en 1899). Elle est remplacée en 1946, après la Seconde Guerre mondiale par la Cour internationale de justice (CIJ), organe de l'ONU.

Stały Trybunał Sprawiedliwości Międzynarodowej (STSM, ang. Permanent Court of International Justice, fr. Cour permanente de Justice internationale) był pierwszym sądem międzynarodowym o zasięgu powszechnym. Został powołany na podstawie art. XIV Paktu Ligi Narodów, poprzez ratyfikację protokołu o przyjęciu Statutu STSM w 1921. Rozpoczął działalność 30 stycznia 1922, a formalnie zakończył 31 grudnia 1946, chociaż ostatnia sesja miała miejsce w lutym 1940.
