Peer-to-peer (abbreviated to P2P) refers to a computer network in which each computer in the network can act as a client or server for the other computers in the network, allowing shared access to files and peripherals without the need for a central server. P2P networks can be set up in the home, a business or over the Internet. Each network type requires all computers in the network to use the same or a compatible program to connect to each other and access files and other resources found on the other computer. P2P networks can be used for sharing content such as audio, video, data or anything in digital format.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Connection (engl. peer für „Gleichgestellter“, „Ebenbürtiger“) und Rechner-Rechner-Verbindung sind synonyme Bezeichnungen für eine Kommunikation unter Gleichen, hier bezogen auf ein Rechnernetz. In einigen Kontexten spricht man auch von Querkommunikation.

Le pair-à-pair (traductions de l'anglicisme « Peer-to-Peer », souvent abrégé « P2P »), est un modèle de réseau informatique. Il s'oppose strictement au modèle client-serveur.

Ett P2P-nätverk, från en. peer-to-peer network, icke-hierarkiskt nät, är ett datornätverk av sammankopplade noder som inte kommunicerar enligt klient-server-modellen. Detta innebär att man inte tilldelar olika datorer specifika roller i kommunikationen och att inga noder har några speciella privilegier gentemot de övriga, utan att alla noder i nätverket kan agera i alla roller.

P2P (od ang. peer-to-peer - równy z równym) - model komunikacji w sieci komputerowej, który gwarantuje obydwu stronom równorzędne prawa (w przeciwieństwie do modelu klient-serwer).
