Pear

A pear is a tree of the genus Pyrus and the juicy fruit of that tree, edible in some species. The English word pear is probably from Common West Germanic *pera, probably a loanword of Vulgar Latin pira, the plural of pirum, which is itself of unknown origin. See also Peorð. The place name Perry can indicate the historical presence of pear trees. The term "pyriform" is sometimes used to describe something which is "pear-shaped".

PEAR (PHP Extension and Application Repository) - jest frameworkiem i systemem dystrybucji rozszerzeń do języka PHP. Został rozpoczęty w 1999 roku przez Stiga S. Bakkena i w krótkim czasie dołączyło do niego wiele osób, które teraz tworzą społeczność zarządzającą projektem. Głównymi założeniami jego projektu było dostarczenie programistom PHP kolekcji otwartoźródłowych rozszerzeń i prostego systemu ich dystrybucji w postaci tzw. paczek. W przeszłości zaliczało się do tego również PECL, które w 2003 roku stało się samodzielnym projektem.

Grusza (Pyrus L. ) – rodzaj, w większości niewielkich drzew z rodziny różowatych (Rosaceae Juss.). Pierwotnie cały rodzaj występował w strefie umiarkowanej Eurazji nie sięgając jednak tak daleko na północ jak jabłoń, gdyż wymagania cieplne grusz są wyższe. Obecnie szacuje się (w zależności od autora), że zawiera od 30 do 60 gatunków. W ciągu liczącej co najmniej 30 wieków uprawy gruszy wyselekcjonowano kilka tysięcy odmian uprawnych.

Per pera si indendono i frutti (in realtà si tratta di un falso frutto) delle piante del genere Pyrus a cui appartengono molte specie differenti. Alcune delle specie producono frutti eduli e vengono perciò coltivate, quella più diffusa è la specie Pyrus communis. La pera è ricca di zuccheri semplici, specialmente fruttosio. La prevalenza di potassio la rende adatta ad una dieta iposodica. La produzione avviene da fine agosto e si conserva anche 3-4 mesi in regime di freddo. La pera risulta pertanto disponibile per gran parte dell'anno e si consuma al naturale o cotta in sciroppo di zucchero. Nell'industria alimentare viene utilizzata prevalentemente per la produzione di succhi e sciroppati.
